Engineering Officer (New Connections)

Intermediate role suiting Level 5 NDE or registered electricians to provide engineering support for new connection and network development projects.
This would involve design, planning of medium to low voltage network extensions, including subdivision planning, for new customer connections. The role involves both field and office environments requiring a blend of practical and technical skills.

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

EWRB Registration as Electrician or Inspector.
Minimum of 5 years electrical industry experience.
Experience in power distribution networks.
Strong communication skills
Understanding of GIS and associated computer skills

Electrical CAD/Draughting Technician

Reporting to the Supervising Draughtsperson the Electrical CAD/Draughting Technician will be responsible for:

Carrying out CAD draughting work in the preparation of utility engineering drawings for the 33 kV, 11 kV and LV electrical distribution network.

Producing schematic diagrams and GIS plans to assist the engineering, construction, and maintenance teams.

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

NZCE or equivalent qualification.
Tertiary CAD/Draughting qualification.
Minimum of 5 years electrical industry experience.
Experience in electrical design Draughting.
Experience with GIS systems.
Understanding of power distribution networks.
Knowledge about communications infrastructure (fibre/radio) would be advantageous

Data Analyst

Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager, and working alongside the Systems Analyst, you will be involved in providing reporting, analysis and data integration for the Asset, Billing, Customer, GIS, Engineering, Maintenance, Works Management and Scada datasets while helping to ensure these datasets remain accurate and up to date.
The skills that are essential for you to be successful in this role include: database fundamentals, programming skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Alpine Energy employs a mix of technologies to store its data including: Access, Oracle, SQL Server, Excel and Outlook. In-house applications and macros have been written in VBA, VB6 and VB.Net to utilise the data.

As a Data Analyst, you’d be expected to be comfortable utilising the bulk of the technologies listed above from the get-go and to up skill to become proficient with the remainder. As is the nature with all IT jobs, it’s essential that you are willing to continually enhance your technical abilities with the latest tools and developments.

To become the successful candidate you will need to demonstrate that you have an articulate technical ability and can work in collaboration as a member of a small group. This could be demonstrated, for example, either through previous employment history or by having completed relevant Tertiary education along with personal interest projects. The ability to write queries in SQL and to have a good understanding of database design is very important.
