Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager, and working alongside the Systems Analyst, you will be involved in providing reporting, analysis and data integration for the Asset, Billing, Customer, GIS, Engineering, Maintenance, Works Management and Scada datasets while helping to ensure these datasets remain accurate and up to date.
The skills that are essential for you to be successful in this role include: database fundamentals, programming skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Alpine Energy employs a mix of technologies to store its data including: Access, Oracle, SQL Server, Excel and Outlook. In-house applications and macros have been written in VBA, VB6 and VB.Net to utilise the data.
As a Data Analyst, you’d be expected to be comfortable utilising the bulk of the technologies listed above from the get-go and to up skill to become proficient with the remainder. As is the nature with all IT jobs, it’s essential that you are willing to continually enhance your technical abilities with the latest tools and developments.
To become the successful candidate you will need to demonstrate that you have an articulate technical ability and can work in collaboration as a member of a small group. This could be demonstrated, for example, either through previous employment history or by having completed relevant Tertiary education along with personal interest projects. The ability to write queries in SQL and to have a good understanding of database design is very important.
