Participant rolling outage plan
An Electricity Authority requirement is for all electricity distributors to prepare a participant rolling outage plan in the event that a supply shortage is declared by the system operator of the national grid (Transpower), for example when a dry year causes a shortage of hydro generation.
Our participant outage plan specifies the actions we'd take to reduce the consumption of electricity when directed by Transpower. Reducing demand by disconnecting supply to customers would only ever be a last resort after all other forms of savings, including voluntary savings, had been employed.
