Apply to transport over height loads

When transporting high loads such as houses, machinery and industrial equipment, around South Canterbury a high load consent is required.

Once the application is submitted to us, staff will process the application to determine if an electricity shutdown is required and then issue a high load consent. The transporting vehicle must carry the consent.

Transporting over height loads across different regions

If you're transporting high loads across different line company boundaries, you only need to make one application.

We're pleased to join other lines companies from the South Island in a collaborative application and consent process for the transporting of high loads across the multiple regions.

Powerline.co.nz has been designed to make it easier for you to apply for a high load consent, especially when the consent applies across line company boundaries.

A high load consent is required when transporting loads with an overall height of 4.8 metres and higher. This is to ensure safe transportation for both the transporter and the general public.

Once an application is submitted via the Powerline website, the affected lines company will be emailed with the particulars of your application. You still require a consent for every lines company the over dimension will travel through.
