If you need a new electricity connection because you’re building a new house or need a new power supply, or if you need an alteration to your connection because you are installing distributed generation (like solar), we can help you get connected to our network.
First, we’ll need to check that there is capacity on the network for your new connection and approve the connection. We’ll then work with you to ensure the connection is made to the correct supply point, the correct phasing is used, and network fusing is available.
Steps to get connected
1. Enquire & discuss
Before applying for a new connection, talk to your electrician. They’ll help you understand what’s needed and submit the application on your behalf.
Your electrician will typically:
Install your service supply cable
Prepare the site for connection
Provide the required certification
To get started, we’ll need:
Contact details for the person who will pay for the work
Your electricians contact details
The electricity account holder’s details
Your ICP (installation control point) number (if this is an existing connection)
Your electricity retailer and account number
