Get rewarded for injecting electricity

From 1 April 2026, customers who inject electricity e.g. from rooftop solar or home batteries, can receive bill credits when their energy is supplied during peak times, when it’s beneficial to the network.

Like roads, electricity networks can become congested during peak periods. Injection pricing helps manage this congestion by encouraging energy export at the right times, which can reduce pressure on the network and may help avoid unnecessary long-term costs.

When are peak times?

Peak times on the Alpine Energy network:

  • 6.30am – 9.30am
  • 4.30pm – 9.00pm

Peak pricing will apply all year round, seven days a week.

Only electricity exported during peak periods will receive a credit under this pricing.

How much will I receive?

  • Peak Injection $0.03 per kWh

Your retailer will show any credits on your bill.

Who is eligible?

Injection pricing will apply to customers with:

  • a connection capacity of up to 45kVA, which is any customer on a LOW, 015,030,045 price categories/tariffs; and
  • a maximum deliverable generation capacity of up to 45kW

If customers currently have higher generation potential than 45kW, they can configure their inverter or other export controls so that their maximum export to our network is 45kW. Your retailer will apply this pricing if you are on an eligible Alpine Energy network price category and have export metering.

If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, please contact your electricity retailer.
